Sioux Falls Marathon announces 10K course and marathon route changes
The Sioux Falls Marathon is excited to announce the 10K route, a new race offering in 2018. The full marathon will also feature a minor change to the course, with the addition of a loop through Dunham Park on the Southwest side of town.
For the second straight year, the Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K will start and finish inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Miracle 5K will still finish inside the PREMIER Center, but will now start outside on Western Avenue, just South of Madison Street.
The Sioux Falls 10K will start at inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center and will follow the same route as the full and half marathon making its way into Downtown Sioux Falls. After making the turn onto E 9th Street, the 10K will follow the Courthouse loop on N Dakota Avenue onto N Maine Avenue and will then take a right back onto 9th Street to make its return to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
On the full marathon course, the loop through Pasley Park was removed as runners make their way into the Southeast neighborhoods of Sioux Falls. As runners travel through Yankton Trail Park, they will continue on the bike trail instead of veering onto W 57th Street. Runners will then cross the Big Sioux River on the old railroad bridge near Sertoma Park and run on the trail on the West side of the river along businesses on Louise Avenue before entering Dunham Park. After a loop through Dunham Park, runners will cross the Big Sioux River on the bridge near the Minnehaha Country Club and continue on the bike trail making their way back to the PREMIER Center.
The Sioux Falls Marathon route will be USATF Certified and the Marathon route is a Boston Qualifying race.
