2017 Sioux Falls Marathon winners announced

For the first time in the of the Sioux Falls Marathon, the 2017 event started and finished inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center and 2,607 runners from six different countries, 40 states and over 600 cities crossed the finish line on Sunday, Sept. 10.


Miracle 5K

The weekend began Saturday with the Sioux Falls Marathon Expo at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Over 5,000 people made their way around the Expo, visiting over 40 vendors from around the country.

The start of the Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon and Miracle 5K races were delayed 15 minutes due to lightning on Sunday, but all three races took off from the PREMIER Center and made their way through Sioux Falls before returning to cross the finish line under the video display which hung just 15 feet above the ground.

Runners were greeted throughout the course by over 1,000 outstanding volunteers and multiple entertainment groups.

“The Sioux Falls Marathon would like to thank the countless number of volunteers, entertainers, local service men and women and the Sanford Health medical staff that helped make this event an outstanding experience for our participants,” Race Director Bryan Miller said.  “We listened to our runners last year and worked diligently to make improvements to make the Sioux Falls Marathon a destination race and we feel like we are taking steps in the right direction.”

The 2018 Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon and Miracle 5K will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9. To view and download photos of the 2017 event, visit
